The French President promised to rebuild the Cathedral in the next five years.

As we know, about the catastrophic fire in April 2019 that burned the famous Notre Dame in Paris. Therefore, French President Emmanuel Macron boldly pledged on television. He would rebuild Paris’s famous Notre-Dame Cathedral in the next five years. Although architectural professionals at the time were generally sceptical. Yet, this massive rebuild undertaking was completed on schedule. Also, the cathedral’s formal reopening ceremony took place in late 2024.

Back Story of the Disaster:

As we know, the investigations concluded that an electrical short-circuit or a cigarette likely caused the 2019 Notre-Dame fire as an accidental disaster. Also, the stone vaults successfully protect the main structure. Following a five-year reconstruction featuring advanced and modern fire protection systems. But finally, the cathedral reopens on December 7, 2024.

French President Emmanuel Macron Vows:

On Tuesday, French President Emmanuel Macron pledged to renovate Notre Dame Cathedral in five years. Following the tragic fire that largely destroyed the Paris landmark. Bernard Arnault of Christian Dior SE, a second French billionaire, and the expansive luxury goods conglomerate LVMH, later on Tuesday. Each of them pledged €200 million ($226 million) toward the rehabilitation. The French oil firm Total then pledged €100 million.

Notre Dame Rebuild Cost:

The primary reconstruction of Notre-Dame Cathedral cost approximately €700 million (around $738 million to $760 million). But the total expenditures are approaching $1 billion (€928 million). Especially when factoring in advanced structural safety fortifications and fire suppression upgrades.
